The following pictures capture our facilitator's approach towards community engagement. 

Circles are important. It helps the facilitator to be able to connect with every participant. We want to interact and impact each one. Taking advantage of the simplicity of an open floor, we place our large training tapestry in the middle as we share the menstrual story. Participants can also follow along with their own Iap version of tapestry.

Laminated Flip books are super helpful when you have a large circle and for the facilitator super easy to manage and walk around to show specific things.

It takes some effort to laminate … but well worth the investment as they will last for years to come

Whenever possible, immediately after we share the story, women break up into smaller groups and take turns retelling the story to each other.

This reinforces what they just heard, and as peers in a non threatening way help each other to remember the details and build confidence to share with others.

Simple training aids like pre-cuts pinned to a t-shirt are effective in inspiring women to think of how much they could leverage from available resources they may have laying around

The blindfold comfort challenge, always brings laughter as we compare plastic pads to soft cloth ones

Communtiy sessions are so much fun, bring women together and allow us to begin building relationships with those who may want to join our team of future facilitators ... 

You don’t need a big fancy hall or venue to impact women … just women. Gather around a few chairs around an upcycled tire table.
Simple tools like our unique training tapestries and flip books can be taken and used anywhere.

These are some of the practical “engagement tools” our facilitators use during community sessions. Participants have a very hands on experience of seeing, touching and interacting with sustainable solutions … many of which they can find or up cycle for local available materials.
