Follow the path for how we are redeeming waste to transform lives!

The process starts by examining current markers to see what could fit in the “empty wasted spaces” that primary production shapes can not fit into.

We want to redeem this space … fabric that would have been thrown into landfills, as textile waste and use it to make various components of dignity kits - reusable sanitary products.

We have spent significant time to design these products of dignity in collaboration with women who use them. Based upon their feedback we have innovated to make our designs to be extremely easy to wash, even in water scarce regions. Utilizing quick-dry performance fabrics that are extremely soft, absorbent and comfortable to wear.

The CAD department then places the dignity kit components within all cutting markers related to the specific primary garment. In this example, the dignity liners are being placed within the markers of a garment contract equalling 1.6 million t-shirts. 

The pieces of the dignity kit are cut simultaneously while cutting the primary garment … up to 100 layers deep! 

What this represents is that for every table block of garments cut, the sanitary liners needed to provide 2 classrooms full of girls a 3 year supply of protection, are also being cut at the same time!

This is a double bounce for the planet, fabric waste is not dumped into landfills, nor disposable plastic sanitary pads that take 500-1000 years to biodegrade!

As we complete this next phase of repurposing the pre-consumer fabric waste generated from our current 1.6 million t-shirt order, we will be weighing the repurposed pieces so we can get an accurate report of how much waste in KG was diverted from landfills and how many lives impacted this ultimately translates into.

Our aim is to disrupt the entire textile industry with this concept. If we can do this at our facility, it can be done in every mass garment textile facility.

Together we can provide a sustainable and scalable solution that addresses many issues related to global “Period Poverty”.

Our current CSR “Dignity for All” efforts have gained the attention of the US Ambassador to Egypt, his excellency Jonathan R. Cohen, during his visit to Alex Apparels. He was beyond impressed to see the completed garments that are being made for export alongside dignity kits that are cut simultaneously.
